The Vaikundum Estate has a long and rich history that dates back to the royal family of Travancore, who originally owned the land. The kings granted the agricultural lands to local chieftains, and over time, the Europeans consolidated small land holdings into larger estates. Sir Daniel Hamilton, a British planter, is credited with creating rubber plantations in the area. The estate was known as “Kaliel Estate” at the time.
In 1928, the estate was owned by Thomas Patrik Madden Alexander, William Coombe, and Reginald Garnier before changing ownership and names several times over the years. It has been owned and operated by one family since 1957, now a third-generation family-owned business.
The resort takes cues from the lush lotus and lily ponds that dot the nearby landscape, infusing the serene essence of water into every aspect of its design.
As guests make their way around the property, they are greeted by the calming presence of water, whether it be from the stillness of the Chittar lake or the tranquil water features that decorate the resort’s gardens.
Whether you’re taking a leisurely stroll around the resort, enjoying a meal at the restaurant, or simply lounging in your private villa, the essence of water is never far away at Anantya by the Lake. The resort’s commitment to creating a peaceful haven for its guests is evident in every detail, ensuring a truly memorable experience.
