Short Description

Slightly off the main Madurai -Kanyakumari highway near Tirunelveli town you will find Meenakshi Orchards. A dry, less arable land which has become a flourishing fruit farm providing employment opportunities for the local people and a beautiful example of Conservation of the Environment and Greening. New advanced methods of Drip irrigation and Soil conservation have been used to cultivate 300 acres of land into fruit farms growing the best of Mango, Sapota and Gooseberry. Here you will see the dry natural flat lands, rocky outcrops filled with the harsh cries of Peacocks.

On a lucky day you will see the national bird of India open it’s beautiful feathers for a full display. We are not sure about peahens, but it sure impresses humans.

Have a simple “Plantain vegetarian leaf” meal in the farmhouse. Relax awhile in the farm house with its wide corridors and British style columns and wait for the sun to go down before beginning a stroll through the farmlands. June will find you standing in front of trees laden with “ The King of Fruits – The INDIAN MANGO ”. The specialty of Meenakshi Orchards is it’s famous “ImmamPasand”. Harsher the summer; the sweeter the crop of that year. Consider a visit to the nearby village to see a typical rural TamilNadu village with its streets and simple folk.
